Scientists from the University of Cambridge have found that 11 minutes of vigorous walking a day is enough to reduce the risk of heart disease, certain types of cancer and stroke. there was work published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine.

To discover the amount of physical activity required for beneficial health effects, the researchers reviewed 196 scientific papers. In total, scientists have obtained data on the physical activity and health status of 30 million people.

As it turned out, two out of three people did less than 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity per week, and only one in 10 spent more than 300 minutes on this activity. In addition, scientists have found that 75 minutes of activity is more effective than 150 minutes in reducing the risk of disease and premature death.

If each participant was physically active for at least 75 minutes per week (11 minutes a day), approximately one-tenth (10%) premature death, one-twentieth (5%) case of cardiovascular disease, and almost one-thirtieth (3)% one case of cancer would have been prevented. .

“Instead of driving to work or school, try walking or cycling, or play actively with your children or grandchildren. Activities that you enjoy and that you can easily incorporate into your weekly routine are a great way to be more active,” the researchers advise.
