Media holding representatives examined the opinions of 700 thousand internet users and concluded that 59% of Russians were ready to exchange ideas about the news they read, while 41% did not want to.
Face-to-face format leads the way to talk about content in the media – 65% of readers share their opinions in person. 18% do this on instant messengers and social networks, and 17% with voice or video calls.
The most popular topic for discussion is social and political news. These are the questions that the majority of Russians surveyed (73%) argue with each other. 9% share their thoughts on financial and economic issues, 5% like to talk about news: science and technology (5%), culture and art (5%), sports and lifestyle (5%). 2% gossip about rumors and star scandals, only 1% of readers are ready to discuss criminal events.
32% of Russians who don’t like to talk about what they read describe it as a waste of time. On the other hand, 24% do not discuss the news to avoid swearing due to the difference in position. 22% admit they don’t care about someone’s opinion, and 22% have more important topics for conversation.
