In adulthood, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder cannot develop – if symptoms similar to this appear, then most likely the cause is something else. This was told socialbites.ca by Professor Leonid Chutko, head of the Center for Behavioral Neurology, head of the laboratory for correction of mental development and adaptation of the Human Brain Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
“These types of patients come to me who read about ADHD and try to explain everything that happens to them: problems at work, in the family, in terms of illness. The disease may not be diagnosed until adulthood, but it cannot appear suddenly in an adult. So “What were you like as a kid?” we ask. And if there were no signs of the syndrome before, then the root of the problem should be sought elsewhere, ”she explained.
