The US Department of Defense has allocated over $50 million from Boeing to purchase eight P-8A Increment 3 upgrade kits for the US Navy’s (USN) P-8A Poseidon. It has been reported Marine Technology.
These kit upgrades will include special tools suitable to support USN ASW upgrades. Project details were not disclosed.
The study was conducted in Jacksonville, Florida (92.6% of volume) and St. Louis, Missouri (7.4%). The upgrade is expected to be completed in July 2026.
With US-China tensions at an all-time high, investment in submarine warfare capabilities will undoubtedly increase as these tensions persist in the South China Sea region.
The Boeing P-8A is intended to replace Lockheed Martin’s P-3C Orion as the US Navy’s standard maritime patrol and reconnaissance aircraft.
Previously reportedThat such a plane passed through the Taiwan Strait caused an international scandal.
Shi Yi, spokesman for the Eastern Region of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Combat Command, said that the passage of the US patrol plane through the Taiwan Strait endangers stability in the region.
“US actions are deliberate interference and undermine the regional situation, jeopardizing peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait,” he said.
The Chinese military strongly protested the US actions.
