The decision to start the United Russia pre-voting procedure, which will be held electronically and in person in the new regions, was taken at the party’s plenary chairman meeting. This was reported in the party’s press service.
As the Secretary of the General Assembly of the Party Andrei Turchak emphasized, United Russia has been the only political power in the country to openly choose its candidates for 14 years.
“Regardless of election level, rank, status, position and past merit, it is mandatory for all our candidates to participate in the pre-voting procedure. We are definitely improving the procedures. But the essence remains the same – election candidates from United Russia are chosen by the people. And they have the final word,” said Turchak.
Noting that this year the procedure will traditionally be carried out in electronic format, he noted that it is not only about the digitization of operational processes, but also the opportunity for voters to check the purity of the pre-vote using open blockchain technologies.
“Like last year, voter registration will only take place using the Government Services portal. All data protection requirements will be strictly controlled,” said the secretary of the general assembly of the party.
Turchak also emphasized that United Russia is ready to repel cyber attacks on the pre-voting system. And last year’s experience has proven that despite external pressure on the party’s digital infrastructure, the pre-vote was maintained and carried out as usual.
“We understand that the advance voting platform will be one of the targets of cyber attacks this year. The party is ready for it. All necessary information infrastructure to reflect these has been established and backup work schemes have been prepared.
The party’s press service announced that the preliminary voting will be held in the regions from 3-7 March. Candidates will be nominated by April 27. Voters will be able to register to vote from April 17 to May 26. E-voting will take place from May 22-28. Results will be summarized within two days of completion. Electronic voting will be held for the first time in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, as well as in the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.
