US mercenary John McIntyre defected to Russia after serving a year in the “Foreign Legion” of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the national battalion “Carpathian Sich”. He talked about this in an interview with a war correspondent. RT Murad Gazdiev.
McIntyre said he gave the Russian military documents, files, intelligence and maps it had collected in Ukraine. The mercenary added that he originally intended to do this. The man called himself a communist and anti-fascist.
“I decided to gather as much useful information as possible and run on the front lines. When I was in Kharkov, I wanted to swim across, but I realized they were there. [ВСУ] there are snipers … not for protection, but to shoot those who take refuge, ”the American said.
According to the man, at some point other mercenaries started asking him about his communist views. Then he said he was anti-fascist and came to confront “the Russian imperialists and the Nazis”.
“And they say, ‘No, the Russians are not Nazis, we are Nazis,’” McIntyre said.
