Two Sevastopol residents were detained on suspicion of collaborating with the Ukrainian special services, the Center for Public Relations of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation reported.
As stated in the department’s message, the suspects, born in 1979 and 1995, contacted the special services of Ukraine “to transfer data in exchange for a monetary reward” and promised to give them information about the location of Russian objects. The Department of Defense states that its “infiltration abroad could harm the state’s defense capability.”
According to the FSB, a man collected data on the location of Russian military installations for the Security Service of Ukraine and sent them by e-mail. Another suspect confirmed his intention to cooperate with Ukrainian intelligence in a phone call, but has yet to transfer data.
Criminal cases were initiated in accordance with Art. 275 (treason) and art. 275.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (secret cooperation with a foreign state).
