The Chinese Navy is recruiting women and recent college graduates for carrier-based carrier pilot courses. It has been reported South China Morning Post with a link to the announcement on the recruitment of cadets in the official account of the fleet on social networks.
According to the publication, the announcement urges young men and women to “dedicate their youth to building a world-class navy and contribute to the massive rejuvenation of the Chinese nation”!
Applicants must be recent university graduates with a bachelor’s degree in science, technology or engineering. Must not have completed the age of 24 and have no criminal record.
After the two qualifying rounds in March and April, successful candidates will travel to the China Naval Aviation University in Yantai, Shandong Province, where they will complete three to four years of theoretical and flight training.
Previously, it was stated that this university could only be entered after high school. Additionally, women were not trained for carrier-based aviation—they were only trained to fly Air Force fighters.
The publication believes that such changes in the naval aviation university recruitment rules are associated with the lack of pilots.
