European shipbuilders will install the latest BlackFish HMS sonar systems and WhitePointer UC underwater communications systems on NATO ships. It has been reported Maritime News with reference to contract data.
According to the publication, BlackFish HMS is a medium frequency system designed for self-defense of medium and large surface ships involved in both coastal and deep-sea anti-submarine operations.
Using machine learning, BlackFish can detect, track and classify underwater objects, being equipped not only with submarines and surface ships, but also with bottom mines and torpedoes.
The WhitePointer underwater communications system is capable of transmitting voice and data in any combination between surface vessels and divers, submarines and underwater platforms.
The system includes a synthesized high-power transceiver supporting multi-user submarine communications networks that can be programmed to use up to 30 different frequencies. Also, data can be transmitted on one frequency and received on the other.
Former American journalist Seymour Hersh declarationHe said that explosives were activated with the help of a sonar buoy under the Nord Stream gas pipelines, which were erected by US divers as part of NATO exercises in the summer of 2022.
According to Hersh, the buoy shot down a Norwegian Navy plane on September 26.
