Helicopters of the Royal Navy of Great Britain Merlin are equipped with protective covers for extreme conditions and bad weather. It has been reported Forces.net.
It is noted that the covers are designed to protect winged vehicles when parked in the Arctic, in the forest or in the desert at temperatures from -60 to +80 degrees Celsius.
Estimated packing time for the helicopter is one hour including cockpit, transmission and blades. At the same time, the cover is removed “within minutes”, after which the helicopter is immediately ready for take-off.
The hatches were first tested in Norway, where British sailors were stationed at Bardufoss base in the Arctic Circle.
