Spanish companies have proven to be an important engine for job creation, especially during times of economic recovery. They are also the main driver of research and development in the economy. It should be noted that diversification increases productivity and quality. In this sense, it is important to continue to encourage and support the establishment and development of companies in Spain to ensure long-term sustainable economic growth. That’s why Banco Santander and the Spanish Chamber of Commerce annually convene the National SME of the Year Award to recognize the work of Spanish small and medium-sized companies whose activities are essential to job creation and local wealth.
