In Russia, new glauconite fertilizers have been created, which have a targeted effect. This was reported by the press service of Tomsk Polytechnic University.
The mixtures created consist of nutrients (nutrients) and glauconite, an unconventional mineral supplement. It is a clay mineral with a high content of iron, silicon, aluminum and a number of other substances.
“Glauconite contains nutrients important to plants, especially potassium. Our task is to activate the mineral in such a way as to maximize the use of all its beneficial properties. To do this, we combine glauconite with other nutrients – nitrogen substances, using different technological approaches, including pre-activation in various mills. As a result, glauconite reveals its functional properties due to the fact that composites with various forms of nutrients are obtained both on the surfaces and in the structure of the mineral. Due to the presence of various types of ion exchange nutrients (potassium, nitrogen and microelements) in composition, layered mineral structure and granular morphology, composites help improve the physical and chemical properties of the soil and promote the growth and development of agricultural crops. ,” explained Maxim Rudmin, one of the university scientists.
The mixture has already been tested in the fields of one of the crop holdings with a total area of 0.25 hectares. During the experiment, the new fertilizer was applied together with conventional fertilizers in wheat cultivation. As a result, the specific yield increased by 27.4% compared to the control field, where the same fertilizers were applied, excluding those developed by Tomsk scientists. In addition, the quality of the plants improved – they increased the number of spikelets and the grains contained in them.
In 2023, agricultural technicians will continue to test the new fertilizer on a larger scale.
Formerly, chemists created renewed anti-corrosion coating.
