It turned out that one of the Pentagon’s mail servers was not protected from access by search engines and unregistered users, and leaked “terabytes of US military internal email” to the network.

Not even a password has been set to access the server, and any Internet user can access the server using an IP address. At the same time, the mails stored on this server belonged to the leadership and military personnel of the US Special Operations Command.

In particular, applications for access to confidential information containing personal data of soldiers, including information about their state of health, were found here.

On February 8, the server was accessed by the Shodan search engine, which scans the Internet for open servers and notifies all users on request.

It was recorded that Sen reported the discovered vulnerability to the Pentagon, after which the server was disabled and access to the server was blocked.
