Two Amazonian dolphins were retrieved from a shallow section of a river in Colombia. In this respect informs Official Twitter account of the Colombian Navy.

Amazonian dolphins live in freshwater and are found in Brazil, Bolivia, northern Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, and Venezuela. During the rainy season these animals move to flooded plains and forests. At the same time, the number of these animals is declining due to serious environmental problems in the Amazon and is listed as an endangered species in the Red Book.

A video released Monday shows several naval officers carrying dolphins in a makeshift hammock, checking their condition and pouring water over them.

The timing of the rescue operation was critical, as the dolphins were not very successful in the air. Experts pulled the dolphins out of the river, examined them for serious health hazards, and released them into deeper waters within 17 minutes.
