In a message to the Bundestag, Russian President Vladimir Putin talked about NATO’s request from Moscow to allow inspection of Russia’s nuclear defense facilities.

“At the beginning of February this year, the North Atlantic Alliance issued a statement containing the genuine demand for Russia to return to the implementation of the ‘Strategic Assault Weapons Treaty’, including the acceptance of inspections of our nuclear defense facilities.” said the president.

He called it “the theater of the absurd.”

Putin also noted that the Russian side is aware that the West is “directly involved” in Ukraine’s attempts to hit Russian strategic aviation bases.

“The drones used for this were equipped and modernized with the help of NATO experts. And now they want to inspect our defense facilities too? In the current conditions of today’s confrontation, this sounds like some kind of nonsense, ”said the Russian leader.
