Hydrogen sulfide, found in black Himalayan salt, is a very dubious impurity, in an interview with socialbites.ca, deputy director for scientific work of the eponymous Federal Center for Scientific Food Systems. VMGorbatov RAS, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Anastasia Semenova.

“When hydrogen sulfide gas enters water, it becomes acidic. We add an ingredient that lowers the acidity (pH) of the product, which can change the taste of the dish. And then – hydrogen sulfide is simply poisonous, it is a highly poisonous compound, you should not expect any benefit from such an impurity, ”said the professor.

The homeland of this salt is India and Pakistan. This is an unpurified salt, there are impurities of sulfates, bisulfates, bisulfides, there are compounds of iron and various other elements.

“Before using, you can mix a spoonful of exotic salt in a glass of water and look at the sediment. If at the same time ordinary cooking salt is dissolved in another glass, then we see the difference in composition quite clearly, ”said Semenova.

According to the scientist, in most cases, impurities can only change the appearance and taste of salt, but not increase its usefulness for the body.
