The Ministry of Justice of Russia stated that the need to liquidate the Israeli Jewish Agency (Sohnut) is linked to the placement of Russian citizens’ data on foreign websites and violations of the law on personal data. newspaper reports “Kommersant”.

The Basmanny Court in Moscow has begun examining the Justice Ministry’s capital office’s claim against Sokhnut regarding the liquidation of the agency, the newspaper wrote. The newspaper was postponed from August 2022 at the request of the representatives of the accused, due to the fact that it takes time to rectify the violations of the organization.

Ministry officials announced that Sokhnut posted the personal data of Russians on foreign websites and was brought to administrative responsibility 16 times in three years for violating the “On Personal Data” and “About NGOs” laws, Kommersant reported. The Department of Justice rated these violations as “repeated, systematic and sufficient to liquidate the organization and remove it from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities”.

At the same time, the organization’s lawyer, Andrey Grishaev, said that Sokhnut, who was accused, among other things, of an incorrectly drawn up statute, had been trying for six months to eliminate this violation and register a new version. He sent the document he sent to the ministry on February 15 to the Ministry of Justice.

“We are accused of two shortcomings, they were corrected in the first edition of the statute (in the summer of 2022 – socialbites.ca), but now we are denied registration with reference to the provisions of 2015 or 2009, but the comments are no longer on which the Ministry of Justice formed the basis for the liquidation case,” the lawyer of the publication states.

Grishaev also noted that it would take “months” for the Justice Department to consider the new statement, and therefore the defense requested that the process be delayed until April 1.

Ministry of Justice in September accused The lag time is “drying up” due to complaints that the ministry has not completed half the way in eliminating violations.
