The first two installments of the trilogyant man‘ was a rare example of humility, prudence, and willful pettiness in the gigantic world of superhero cinema, the third completely rejects this uniqueness rather, establishing itself as one of the crudest examples of the formula gruelingly exploited by the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). In fact, it’s a film that’s more concerned with functioning as a cog in this endless saga than providing entertainment.

It takes place almost entirely in the Quantum Realm, ora visually boring world filled with a static digital landscape apparently inspired by screensavers from 30 years ago. There, Ant-Man and his allies must contend with a ubiquitous tyrant prone to common gibberish as he prepares to replace Thanos as the official villain of the MCU. What is certain, however, is that both the named protagonist and other characters are overridden by the computer-generated images that surround them, the routine declarations of love and unity they are forced to pronounce, and the action sequences that replace the character. The hero’s stature changes constantly due to his type, and hand-to-hand fights that were previously the hallmark of ‘Ant-Man’ a show as spectacular as it is incomprehensible this greatly damaged the reputation of the genre.
