Interest in living abroad is waning among Russians: even if he could choose any country in the world, one out of every two citizens would stay in Russia. 1,600 representatives of the economically active population from all regions of the country took part in the open survey of the SuperJob job search service, and its results were reviewed by socialbites.ca.

One out of every two Russians (51%) would choose Russia even if they had the chance to choose any country in the world for their life. This is 7 percentage points compared to a year ago and more than twice as much as 2010. The most common arguments are not only a sense of patriotism, but also demand in the labor market, unwillingness to leave relatives and friends.

In the ranking of the most desirable places to live, all abroad is far behind Russia. 5% of Russians want to live in the USA, 4% in Italy and 3% in Spain. 2% each prefer Switzerland, Germany, Canada, Australia and Japan. 1% each will choose Greece, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Great Britain, Israel, UAE, Thailand, France, Cyprus, China, South Korea, Austria and Argentina. Another 9% named other countries, including Bulgaria, Montenegro, Egypt, India, Costa Rica, Luxembourg, Serbia and others.

Women mostly want to live in Russia and Italy. Those who prefer the United States when given the opportunity are mostly among men.
