Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan did not shake hands with opposition leaders at the funeral of Deniz Baykal, the country’s former foreign minister and former Chairman of the opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP). Reported by the Turkish portal. news.com.

“The footage of President Erdoğan walking in front of the opposition leaders Ekrem İmamoğlu (Istanbul Mayor), Ahmet Davutoğlu (former Prime Minister) and Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu (CHP Chairman) without shaking hands, did not go unnoticed,” the publication says.

Deniz Baykal, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs and the former Chairman of the opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP), passed away. The cause of death was not named. Baikal was 84 years old.

Deniz Baykal chaired the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs throughout his long political career and served as Deputy Prime Minister from 1995 to 1996. He served intermittently for over 18 years as Minister of Finance and Energy, Speaker of the Parliament and Chairman of the opposition CHP.
