SBU suspects former Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine trying to monetize COVID-19

Ukraine’s Security Service suspects that the country’s former First Deputy Minister of Health has illegally registered an unproven drug for the treatment of COVID-19, the message was posted on the agency’s Telegram channel.

According to investigators, the defendant “made an illegal decision on state registration under a simplified procedure for a foreign drug that is actually a nutritional supplement (BAA) and needs additional research.” It was noted that the drug, whose effectiveness was not proven on the recommendation of the official, received a state license and is widely used in the treatment of COVID-19. The name of the drug is not given.

SBU employees reported that the official was dismissed last week, making it possible to identify him as Oleksandr Komarid, electronic publication Strana.ua reported. Since June 2021, the man has been the deputy head of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, and before that he headed the board of directors for the supply of drugs of the Ministry of Health.
