Evgeny Tishkovets, a leading expert at the Phobos weather centre, said the meteorological spring in Central Russia will come no earlier than “the dates provided by nature”. He said this in a radio interview. Sputnik.

As the forecaster says, the start of spring won’t be that early, and March “will confirm a very unstable month with traditional cold weather returns, increasing frost, Arctic invasions and snow loads.”

“I can say that until the end of the first decade of April, no one can count on a good spring. There will be waves of heat and cold,” Tishkovets said, noting that the meteorological spring in Central Russia usually takes place in the last days of March, when the daily average temperature rises above zero.

According to him, the air temperature in the spring may slightly exceed the norms, but this deviation will decrease every month.

According to the Phobos expert, the temperature in March is expected to be 3–4°C warmer than the norm overall, in April it will be 1–2°C above the norm, and the average monthly temperature in May is the norm.

He also added that heavy rains or significant deviations towards drought are not yet expected. At the same time, Tishkovets emphasized that preliminary forecasts for the season are usually confirmed by 60-70%.

Previously reportedOn Monday, February 13, there will be a thaw in Moscow, and on February 15 the frosts will return.
