Sultan Khamzaev, deputy of the United Russian State Duma, proposed introducing criminal liability for insulting the Heroes of Russia, reports DEA News.

“I think that a law should be enacted on the introduction of criminal liability for publicly insulting the honor and dignity of Heroes of the Soviet Union and Russia,” said Khamzaev.

According to him, the heroes who were awarded the highest award in the country often did not have the time and opportunity to respond to insults, so society and the state could take on this task.

Formerly, the son of Andrey Kovtun, Deputy Head of the Government of the Jewish Autonomous Region, after his death accepted The title of Hero of Russia for participation in the military operation in Ukraine.

It is reported that Kovtun closed the reconnaissance group with an infantry fighting vehicle and ensured its evacuation. The ambushed soldiers managed to escape from the fire, but Kovtun himself received shrapnel wounds, from which he died in battle.
