Russia’s hydrometeorological center has declared a yellow weather hazard due to snowstorms and icing in Moscow and the Moscow region. This is reported on the institution’s website.

“Yellow – the weather is potentially dangerous,” says the forecast map of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center.

The severe weather warning in Moscow and the region is in effect from 11 February at 9:00 pm to 12 February at 11:00 am.

Roman Vilfand, former scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia knowledgeableHeavy snowfall and blizzards are expected in Moscow and Central Russia over the weekend.

According to Vilfand, the combination of wind and snow will lead to a snowstorm that will last until the night of February 12. Pressure will rise again on Sunday afternoon and light snowfall will continue.

As the forecaster stated, snowfall on Saturday and Sunday night will increase the height of the snowdrifts by 5-10 cm.

Phobos weather center specialist Yevgeny Tishkovets also reported that heavy snowfall will come to Moscow at the weekend and the snow cover will increase by 10 cm at the beginning of next week.
