After the earthquake in Syria, at least 20 prisoners suspected of being members of the terrorist organization ISIS (an organization banned in Russia) escaped from prison. TASS.

According to the agency, the prisoners were held in a prison near the town of Raju, close to the Turkish border. There are around 2,000 detainees in total in the prison, of whom 1.3 thousand may be ISIS militants.

The prison building was damaged as a result of the earthquake. The prisoners revolted and took over part of the institution.
