The biologists added that snowdrifts and bark make it difficult for ungulates to extract roots and twigs. Herbivores go in search of food in places where there is less snow – to open weathered valleys near highways. At the same time, they have already moved beyond the park where they are protected.
The ungulates were followed by Red Book predators: tigers and leopards. Except in the national park, they can all meet poachers.
“In order to prevent the tragedy, it was decided to eliminate the problem eventually, to feed the animals and minimize their access to humans,” said representatives of the specially protected area.
