For the IT industry, crises are like vaccines that strengthen the IT industry and open up new opportunities. Such an opinion was expressed by Sergey Plugotarenko, CEO of ANO Tsifrovaya Ekonomia, in a conversation with socialbites.ca. Commenting on a study by the Higher School of Economics, which indicated that Russian IT experts were optimistic about the development prospects of the local IT industry, the interlocutor said that experts in the industry thought “we can overcome this”.
“Today, some niches have become empty due to the withdrawal of many Western players from the Russian market. Foreign companies are being replaced by strong Russian players who need qualified personnel and are ready to offer competitive conditions.”
He emphasized that Russia is actively developing its own services and products, trade and government. Citing the GosTech platform as an example, the expert expressed his confidence that it will become an important platform for many developers in the near future.
“The retention of IT professionals is also helped by the state’s unprecedented support measures: preferential lending systems, deferral from the military, tax incentives,” added ANO Tsifrovaya Ekonomia CEO.
According to him, it is important and valuable that support measures transform and respond to the needs of business and experts, thanks to the close interaction between government and business.
“Let’s remember that people are the most important thing for the digital economy, because everything digital is done by hands and brains. We are a high-tech industry in close contact with the government, we must continue to work actively to retain staff and create comfortable conditions for high-tech companies – then we will have a bright digital future, ”concluded Plugotarenko.
On February 6, the National Research University School of Economics (NRU HSE) published the results on its website. researchbased on the results of an online survey of IT professionals. Between October and December 2022, HSE representatives asked more than 5,000 attendees a series of questions. Despite the pressure of sanctions and the departure of many foreign companies, Russian IT specialists turned out to be generally optimistic about the development prospects of the local IT industry.
