In Malaga, local police detained a 38-year-old man following allegations of sexual assault against his 40-year-old former partner. The incident was confirmed by municipal authorities to Europa Press.
The events unfolded around 11 in the morning last Wednesday when a hotel receptionist alerted the Local Police after reporting that a guest appeared to be seeking help. The hotel staff informed authorities that the guest described herself as being in danger, which prompted a rapid response and an investigation into the claims of rape and detention reported by the press on Thursday.
A patrol located the woman near the central district police station, where she identified herself as the victim. She explained that she had been staying at a reception center and that she had previously received a call from Barcelona from the man who was later detained. The man, said to be Spanish and under a restraining order issued by the woman, apparently contacted her while in Malaga, warning that if she did not meet him he would call the police and spread word to others. He allegedly pressured her and manipulated the restraining order to her disadvantage, contributing to a sense of coercion.
Feeling intimidated, the woman chose to leave the shelter and did not disclose further details at that moment. A missing-person report was subsequently filed, initiating a formal inquiry.
According to the woman, after arriving in Malaga the man accompanied her to a hotel and did not allow her to leave. She claimed he sexually assaulted her and left the area the following Wednesday. She allegedly showed investigators stains or marks from the incident.
Responding officers from the Operational Support Group and the Local Police Investigation and Protection Group acted swiftly and arrested the suspected perpetrator as he tried to depart the scene. Hotel staff recognized him as he walked toward the exit, triggering arrest procedures. The woman was taken to a hospital for a medical examination, and authorities reached out to regional police colleagues to coordinate the case. The Mossos d’Esquadra confirmed they were aware of the situation and had the case flagged for follow-up. The incident remains under review, with the Viogen system providing additional monitoring context as investigations proceed.
