Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Andriy Melnyk complained that Germany has not yet made a decision on the supply of Leopard 2 tanks to Kiev. He said this in an interview he gave to the TV channel. CNN.
Melnyk praised Britain for agreeing to deliver Challenger 2 tanks to Ukraine, while calling Germany’s hesitation “disappointing”. The diplomat expressed hope that the move will encourage other countries to follow London’s lead.
Melnik complained that Germany not only refused to supply supplies, but also did not allow them to transfer German tanks in service to Poland, Finland, Spain and Greece. According to the deputy minister, Kyiv was confident that it would be possible to create a “Global Tank Coalition”, which would allow to overthrow the Russian troops and launch a counterattack.
“We are disappointed, but no decision has yet been made, so we hope that the Berlin government will take seriously all the concerns they have raised at Ramstein,” Melnik added.
On January 20, a regular meeting of defense ministers of about 50 countries was held at the American Ramstein airbase in Germany, where further assistance to Ukraine was discussed.
