Space Research Institute announces import substitution of Luna-27 equipment

The Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences announced that the import substitution of scientific equipment of the Luna-27 project will begin in 2023 – it will be completely transferred to domestic equipment. TASS.

“We will definitely work on the 27th apparatus this year. “We will switch to domestic equipment,” said Igor Mitrofanov, Head of the Department of Nuclear Planetology at IKI RAS.

He explained that the need for import substitution arose due to the sanctions imposed on Russia.

Initially, Luna-27 was a joint project of Roscosmos and the European Space Association (ESA), part of the first phase of the Russian lunar program. ESA withdrew from the project on 13 April 2022.

Luna-27, along with Luna-26, is part of the Luna-Source-1 mission, where it will be deployed.

It is assumed that the launch of Luna-27 to the Earth satellite will take place in 2025.
