Scientists from the Educational Institute of the Higher School of Economics will create a computer test to develop educational trajectories for schoolchildren. The project received a grant from the Russian Science Foundation.
The test will help identify violations and difficulties, as well as strengths in the development of school-age children. Researchers noted the high risk of misdiagnosis in this area and the lack of high-quality tools in Russian.
“There are good tests that assess the individual components of intelligence, just as there are no Russian standards for comparing a child’s development with other children of his own gender and age, and there are not enough comprehensive tests that psychological, medical and pedagogical commissions can rely on. To conclude: he is stronger in this regard, but this one is weaker and we need help,” explains Tatyana Kanonir, head of the research group, associate professor at the Institute of Education of the National Research University Higher School of Economics.
Scientists plan to create a tool that can compete with world analogues. Its development will take five to seven years. The test will be open to psychologists trained in its use and interpretation of results. The tasks of the test will be classified in such a way that it is impossible to “educate” the child to him. The results of the test will help professionals provide students with the right educational route and support.
