Demand for drugs that will relieve hangover before the holiday increased by 20%

For many Russians, the New Year holidays can be associated with festive morning feasts, overeating and headaches. SBER EAPTECA learned what results the Russians faced the most during this period and how they rejuvenated their bodies after the winter holidays.

The Russians took care of their situation in advance after long holidays. According to SBER EAPTEKA, in December 2022, sales of drugs to heal the body increased by 44% compared to the same period last year. Painkillers have become the most needed — demand increased by 90% in December compared to last year. To feel good after the New Year’s holiday, Russians bought products that improve digestion (+20%). Interestingly, hangover remedies are in less demand this year (-8%).

In terms of painkillers, the demand for painkillers increased (+85%) in December. Among drugs that improve digestion, the leaders in terms of sales growth were antidiarrheal drugs (+43%). In addition, antispasmodics (+41%), laxatives (34%) and heartburn remedies (+32%) were in high demand.

It is noteworthy that the most active stage of preparation for the results of the New Year holidays coincides with the last week of 2022. Currently, demand for hangover remedies is up 20% abruptly from the penultimate week of December, and sales of digestive aids are up 12%.

The most popular drug among Russians on New Year’s Eve was Paracetamol, which has an analgesic effect. In second place is activated charcoal, which helps with diarrhea. Closes the first three sales in December – “Citramon P”. In addition, Russians often bought Acetylsalicylic Acid and Analgin tablets, which have analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects.

Most often, residents of Moscow take care of their health during the New Year holidays – a quarter of the sale of drugs required to restore the body after long holidays fell on the capital (25%). Also in the top 5 is St. Petersburg (8%), Kazan (3%), Novosibirsk (2%) and Nizhny Novgorod (2%). Residents of these regions actively bought painkillers, drugs to improve digestion and drugs to relieve hangovers.
