Russian director and head of the Russian Cinematographers Union Nikita Mikhalkov, who was hospitalized last week with the flu, has been diagnosed with the new coronavirus. About January 9 reported “Kosomolets of Moscow”.
According to the newspaper’s report, the 77-year-old director was hospitalized on January 5 at the 67th city hospital in Moscow. Initially, doctors diagnosed Mikhalkov with flu, he had a low satiety (94 instead of the prescribed 97 and above) and a fever above 37 degrees. But then came a positive test for Covid-19.
As MK wrote, immediately after confirming the new diagnosis, the director was transferred to the city clinical hospital number 52, specializing in rescuing coronavirus patients in the Shchukino region.
Referring to a representative of the medical institution, RIA Novosti reported that Mikhalkov continues to be in intensive care.
According to Komsomolskaya Pravda, the director is being treated by the same doctors who saved singer MakSim. After his treatment in a private clinic, he was admitted to the City Clinical Hospital No. 52 with advanced pneumonia in June 2021. The singer was then treated for several months: she was also first transferred to intensive care, then medically comatose, and then hooked up to an ECMO machine. MakSim was only able to breathe on his own in August.
In 2021, Nikita Mikhalkov announced that he was vaccinated against the coronavirus. But before that, he repeatedly talked about the dangers of vaccination in the Besogon program in 2020, and even acknowledged the veracity of the conspiracy theory about tearing people apart with vaccines.
The Baza Telegram channel was the first to report that Mikhalkov was hospitalized last Thursday. According to the publication, the director’s condition was serious, he was diagnosed with bilateral pneumonia.
After that, the director’s press service confirmed that he was hospitalized in TASS, adding that doctors diagnosed Mikhalkov with flu. The next day, January 6, Baza wrote that Mikhalkov was transferred from the 67th hospital to another medical facility. The publication drew attention to the fact that the patient had covid pneumonia, although its official representatives reported that he had the flu.
On the same day, Mash wrote that Mikhalkov was transferred to the intensive care unit of another clinic for bilateral polysegmental pneumonia and intoxication syndrome.
As the publication later reported, Mikhalkov’s initial tests for the coronavirus did not confirm the diagnosis. “Covid and flu tests have returned negative results,” Mash wrote. The director developed respiratory failure due to pneumonia, but he was conscious and able to breathe on his own. His condition was rated as severe with moderately positive dynamics.
Vladimir Legoyda, head of the synodal department responsible for relations between the church, society and the media, said that Moscow Patriarch Kirill and All Rus prayed for Mikhalkov’s health.
“The patriarch prayed for the health of Nikita Sergeyevich Mikhalkov during the mass today. His Holiness gave Nikita Sergeevich to the hospital a holy prosphora, from which a particle about his health was removed, ”Leguida added, adding that on January 6 he himself spoke on the phone with the director.
Actress Yana Poplavskaya said on Friday evening that Mikhalkov continues to be in serious condition. “Nikita Sergeevich is in intensive care, his condition is still serious. Now is not the time to go. I love, appreciate and respect, I wish only one thing, get well!” – Wrote on Telegram.
Journalist Ksenia Sobchak suggested that after Mikhalkov’s hospitalization, the death of the director can now be compared with the death of Stalin. Sobchak explained this relationship by the fact that the entire cinematographic environment of the country and cultural institutions as a whole was “built for Nikita Sergeevich.”
This opinion caused a mixed reaction among celebrities. For example, publisher Mikhail Shakhnazarov called Sobchak a monster and a demon. The journalist, describing the negative in his address as “the kingdom of crooked mirrors”, explained that he did not want the director to die, but instead wished him well in plain text.
