Canadian Defense Minister Anita Anand said the country will purchase 88 American F-35 aircraft as part of the Cabinet’s Air Force fighter fleet renewal program. It has been reported TASS.
“Today I am announcing that Canada will purchase a new fleet of 88 advanced F-35 fighter jets as part of our agreement with the US government and Lockheed Martin. These investments are estimated at $19 billion,” Anand said.
He also noted that the country could receive the first four aircraft in 2026 and that the contract will be fully implemented by the end of 2032.

According to the European Defense Review, the agreement covers 145 aircraft under Lot 15, 127 aircraft under Lot 16, and up to 126 aircraft under the contract option under Lot 17, including the first F-35 aircraft for Belgium, Finland and Poland.
