Many encounter resistance and even stress when returning to work after long vacations. Psychologist Maria Pronina told socialbites.ca about this. She told me how to get back to normal rhythm after the January break.

According to the expert, during the holidays the usual schedule of the day, sleep and wakefulness is lost. In addition, people begin to lead a very passive or, conversely, very active lifestyle, allow gastronomic excesses and face emotional outbursts.

“All of the above requires a lot of resources. And then it’s time to restore the normal way of life. Therefore, if a person suddenly tries to switch from one situation to a diametrically opposite one, the encounter with stress is very high, ”said Pronina.

As the psychologist noted, there are ways to harmoniously return to workdays. The first is not to conquer the peaks of the greatest goals from the first day of work. You need to take time to get into a rhythm for the body to regain its senses and restore normal performance.

“The first three working days are usually the hardest. The motivation to go to work will help ease them. So you can put on new clothes or jewelry, take some gifts with you, or share funny new stories with your coworkers. The most important thing is to transfer the feeling of joy on holidays to weekdays,” the expert advised.

You also need to rest yourself. For example, the psychologist believes that on the first day of work it is worth giving yourself an additional 5-10 minutes to rest every hour. Such pauses will help restore focus at work.

“Sport is a big help. It will tone your body, fill the body with endorphins, thereby distracting it from excessive consumption of food, especially sweets, and will positively affect brain activity. ”, Pronina stated.
