Alert across Ukraine

RIA Novosti reported that, based on data from the online map of the Ministry of Digital Development of the country, an airstrike alert was announced throughout Ukraine. According to the agency, sirens sounded in parts of Ukraine’s Odessa, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Vinnitsa, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad regions and Kyiv-controlled Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.

In addition, at 9:00 am Moscow time, an air raid alert was issued for the Khmelnitsky, Rivne, Ternopil, Chernivtsi, Lviv, Transcarpathian, Volyn and Ivano-Frankivsk regions.

Explosions shook the capital of Ukraine and other major cities. Referring to the energy company DTEK, RIA Novosti reported that emergency power cuts were initiated in Ukraine’s Odessa and Dnipropetrovsk regions after an alarm was declared.

Ukrainian Railways’ Telegram channel said eight trains were delayed by more than half an hour due to partial network disruption in “Donetsk, Kharkiv, Sumy, Kyiv, Lvov and Zhytomyr regions”.

The company announced the withdrawal of spare diesel locomotives due to power outages on the railway lines. Also, on some routes, trains are delayed more than usual. On the Odessa-Kharkov line, the trains are delayed for 3.5 hours, and on the Uman-Kharkov line one and a half hours.

The situation in Kiev

The mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, said on his Telegram channel that a lot of explosions were heard in the Ukrainian capital. He also warned of “power outages” in the city and urged residents to charge their phones and other devices and stock up on water.

According to him, two people were rescued from a damaged private house, they were taken to the hospital. Klitschko added that rocket fragments damaged a car on one of the central streets.

The mayor noted that as a result of the bombardment in the capital, three people, including a 14-year-old girl, were injured and all were taken to hospital.

“Explanation from the air defense forces: 16 missiles have already been destroyed over Kyiv. After the missile attack, 40% of consumers in the capital were left without electricity. In connection with the necessary security measures taken by energy engineers during an air raid. Now power engineers are working to restore the electricity supply,” the mayor wrote.

According to him, “with the exception of houses on which the operation of boiler rooms depends, where there is no electricity supply”, “the city provides heat and water in normal mode.”

Explosions in Lviv, Kharkov and Odessa

“Explosions are heard in Lvov! Stay in the shelters,” wrote Mayor Andrei Sadovoy on the Telegram channel.

According to him, 90% of the city was left without electricity.

“We are waiting for additional information from energy engineers. Trams and trolleybuses do not run around the city. Water supply interruptions are possible. We are moving to the operation of diesel generators in critical infrastructure facilities.”

Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov also reported on his Telegram channel that there was a “rocket attack” on the city.

“There is a series of explosions happening in the city. Preliminary arrivals in Nemyshlyansky district. What objects were hit and whether there were victims – the information is still being determined, ”she wrote.

The head of the Kharkiv regional military administration, Oleg Sinegubov, announced on his channel that “critical infrastructure is under arms”, “rescuers are working at the scene.”

Referring to the Ukrainian edition of Strana.ua, RIA Novosti reported that in Odessa, electricity and water were cut off after information about the explosions in the city. According to the local Dumskaya newspaper, two powerful explosions were heard in Odessa. The mayor of the city, Gennady Trukhanov, warned citizens of the air raid warning on his Telegram channel.
