At least one person was killed and 57 people were injured as a result of the collision of two trains on the 3rd line in the subway. Mexico City, as confirmed by the metropolitan’s head of government, Claudia Sheinbaum, who has released a full list by name.
Sheinbaum explained 4 people were crushed in the accident, all have already been recovered and hospitalized. The most serious person is the train driver.
The accident occurred at around 09:15 on Saturday. Junction of La Raza stationcausing the suspension of service between Indios Verdes station and Guerrero station.
“Government, Citizen Safety, Comprehensive Risk Management secretaries and the Metro director arrived on the scene. I report and I leave. More information soon,” the head of government added.
Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said:or condolences and sympathy for the accident. López Obrador said in a statement on social networks, “I am saddened by the accident on the Mexico City Metro. Unfortunately, one person lost his life and many injured, according to the information I received. I offer my condolences and solidarity.”
“From the beginning, Mexico City’s public officials have been dealing with the setback and have our full support”the president added.
