US military spouses will receive employment benefits after relocating

President Joe Biden has signed into law legislation that will make it easier for military wives to obtain professional licenses when moving to a new co-duty station. It has been reported Sea Clocks.

According to the publication, for the first time, federal law requires states to consider prior licenses in the jurisdiction in which the specialist was located in their previous workplace when allocating professional licenses.

Department of Defense officials estimate that of the more than 132,000 active-duty military spouses, approximately 40% of all U.S. military family members have licensed occupations.

Licenses are required in a wide variety of occupations in the US, from real estate agents to nurses, teachers, beauticians, and others. The only profession excluded by the new law is attorneyship.

Previously reportedThat the Pentagon has decided to extend parental leave for the military from six weeks after birth or adoption to 12 weeks.

The new norm will come into effect on January 9, 2023. Unit commanders must balance maternity leave with the needs of their units and operational needs, according to the U.S. Department of Defense leadership memo.
