Japan and UK to simplify visa check for civil servants

Japan and the United Kingdom are preparing to simplify immigration controls for the officers of the two countries in order to broaden their security ties. Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida will sign an agreement with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak next week, Reuters news agency quoted Yomiuri sources as saying.

The agency states that Kishida will visit the UK during its G7 tour on January 10-11, which includes France, Italy, Canada and the USA.

Previously reportedTokyo and London are preparing to sign a military agreement on mutual access for defense and security. The agreement will facilitate the holding of joint exercises.

Exercise participants will not need a visa for a temporary stay in a partner country. The deal will also simplify the process of importing ammo.

After the signing of the treaty, the United Kingdom will be the second country after Australia to have such a treaty with Japan.

In early January, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida plans to go On a tour of the Western states that are part of the “big seven” m associated with cooperation within the G7.

One of the first stops of Kishida’s western tour is expected to be the USA. According to a statement from the White House, American leader Joe Biden will receive the Japanese prime minister in Washington on January 13.

At the same time, the Japanese Cabinet chief’s trip to the G7 countries must be completed before the organization’s summit in May, this time in Hiroshima.
