The number of Russian soldiers killed after the missile attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on Makeyevka rose to 89. This was expressed by Lieutenant General Sergei Sevryukov, the first deputy head of the Main Military-Political Directorate of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, TASS reported.
According to him, immediately after the explosions, surviving officers and soldiers from other units began to rescue the victims and search for the dead.
“First aid was given, the injured were evacuated to health institutions. Unfortunately, the number of our comrades who lost their lives during the analysis of the rubble of reinforced concrete structures increased to 89, ”said Sevryukov.
Now a commission investigating the conditions of the disaster is working in Makiivka, the families of the deceased soldiers are provided with the necessary assistance. In addition, the military-political body of the Ministry of Defense stated that in the future they will take measures to eliminate such situations.
“After the results of the investigation, the guilty authorities will be held responsible,” Sevryukov said.
On January 1, at 00:01 Moscow time, the Ukrainian army fired six American HIMARS MLRS shells at the temporary deployment point of one of the military units of the Russian Armed Forces in Makeyevka (DPR). While dozens of soldiers were deployed in the building of the vocational school, there was also a small arms and ammunition depot nearby. The Ministry of Defense said that although air defense systems intercepted four missiles, two more shells with a high-explosive fragmentation charge hit the building where the soldiers were located. After the explosion, the building collapsed, burying the wounded and dead under the rubble.
Among the dead is the deputy commander of the regiment, Lieutenant Colonel Bachurin. The governor of the Samara region, Dmitry Azarov, confirmed that a person mobilized from this region was killed during the bombing of a vocational school in Makeevka. “After the bombing, both privates and officers rescued others with wounds, bullet shock,” he added.
According to Lieutenant General Sergei Sevryukov, a representative of the Main Military-Political Directorate of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the main reason for the defeat of the Russian soldiers’ location on Makeevka was “the use of telephones by personnel within reach of enemy weapons.”
“This factor allowed the enemy to find and determine the coordinates of the location of military personnel for a missile attack. “At the moment, necessary measures are being taken to exclude such tragic events in the future,” he said.
Denis Pushilin, acting head of the DPR, said that before he died, some of the dead went to rescue colleagues who were injured in the first attack.
“Many of whom barely made it out of the building damaged by the American Hymars came to their senses and returned to expel their comrades. Later, when Emergencies Ministry employees arrived, they helped save the rest. They helped by risking their lives. “Some of the dead are those who died when they came back to save their colleagues,” he said. said the official.
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation also claims that Russian troops destroyed the HIMARS launcher, which the Ukrainian Armed Forces fired at Makiivka, with return fire. It was also announced that four more American missile systems were destroyed and “more than 200 Ukrainian nationalist and foreign mercenaries” were destroyed.
On January 2, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that 63 people were killed in explosions at a vocational school in Makeevka.
