Ukrainian Culture Minister Oleksandr Tkachenko reported on his Telegram channel that the Cathedral of the Assumption and the Refectory Church of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra have been transferred from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) to state ownership.
At the same time, the commission for the acceptance and transfer of objects took place without representatives of the canonical church. However, as Tkachenko points out, this is not seen as an obstacle to the transfer of buildings.
The commission began work on January 2, its tasks included an inventory of properties and an inventory of icons and iconostasis.
Vladimir Legoyda, former Head of the Synodal Department of Church, Society and Media Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate knowledgeableThat the Ukrainian authorities began to take the churches of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra from the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
According to him, this has not happened since the days of the “godless Soviet regime”. He noted that such an atmosphere prevails in Ukraine at the moment that it is hard to believe the possibility of a legal restoration of rights.
