The Investigative Committee of Russia announced on the Telegram channel that four suspects were arrested in connection with the murder of a family in Makeevka.
“We received information that the bodies of 8 people, including three children, were found in a private house in the city of Makiivka of the DPR. Immediately, a car was set up, from which people suspected of committing crimes fled. Later, 4 people were detained in an apartment in Donetsk.
During the search of the suspects’ apartment, the law enforcement officers found “AK-74 assault rifle, three magazines and two hand grenades” and seized them. The weapon will be sent for inspection.
Donetsk law enforcement provides other data. Earlier, the DPR Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that three residents of the Kalininsky microdistrict, suspected of killing eight people, were detained in hot pursuit. It is emphasized that those detained were previously convicted.
“At 21:15 on December 26, the task unit of the Police Department of the Chervonogvardeisky District of Makeevka received a message that the bodies of 8 people, four of whom were small, were found on the territory of one of the households,” the Republic said. The Ministry of Internal Affairs calls it Telegram channel.
According to the investigation, the attackers stole a Skoda car from the yard.
The report states that detainees “confessed to committing crimes with mercenary motives to steal a car and valuable property.”
The head of the Makeevka administration, Vladislav Klyucharov, told TASS the details of the tragedy. “It was a complete robbery, they fled in the car of the family they shot. They have four children – one year old, ten and two fourteen [лет] “He’s dead,” he said.
According to the information he obtained, the suspects were caught during the ‘Siren’ blocking plan announced in the city. “Siren” was introduced to catch particularly dangerous criminals. The plan includes checking citizens’ documents, inspecting cars and placing additional traffic police patrols on the roads.
In a comment to RIA Novosti, the father of the family, the grandparents of the children who were shot, stated that he was confident that robbery was not the motive, as the criminals simply stole a car.
“Nobody wanted to rob, they didn’t take anything from us. They did not take gold from my daughter, there was a gold chain, no one took it out. Nothing. They just shot and left. And the car was stolen. “Generally, the cause is unknown,” he said.
He added that he was with the police and had spoken to the head of the forensic investigation department. “While the investigation is ongoing, he doesn’t want to disclose. I ask him: “What is the reason?” He says: “It’s not enough. Insufficient, unable to speak,” said the man.
He explained that they killed “a daughter and a granddaughter, a matchmaker, a matchmaker, two daughters and two more grandchildren”. “How did you know? My son-in-law came home, they were all shot, summoned and I came,” he recalls.
The DPR Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that the actions of criminals fall under Part 2 of Art. 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (killing of two or more people). They face “maximum liability in the form of the death penalty”. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation explains that the military investigative authorities of the Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case in accordance with Part 2 of Art. 105, Part 2 of Art. 166 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal possession of a car without the purpose of theft, committed by a group of people with prior agreement).
In the DPR, before the republic became part of Russia, the death penalty was the highest measure of punishment. On October 2, documents were published on the website of the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation that the norms of legislation contradicting the Constitution of Russia will not be applied in the new regions of the country – DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye. and Kherson districts.
Thus, the death penalty will be abolished in the DPR. On October 4, the press service of the republican parliament reported that the DPR officials plan to resolve this issue before the region’s integration into the legal sphere of the Russian Federation ends, that is, before January 1, 2026.
