American nonprofit organization RANDServing the U.S. military, he released a report on the U.S. escalation strategy in confronting Russia on December 24.
According to the report, while Washington’s main objectives are to “punish” and “deter” the Russian Federation, this should be done in such a way that Moscow does not dare to use nuclear weapons and there is no direct military conflict between them. Russia and NATO countries do not break out.
The authors of the report suggest that Russia could carry out a non-nuclear attack against European countries that are members of NATO or against US and alliance military facilities, including those in space.
The escalation scenario includes three actions: a hypothetical attack by the Russian Armed Forces on a NATO ally of the United States; US response; Moscow’s response to Washington’s response.
“The aim of US war policy so far has been to avoid a war between NATO and Russia. A limited Russian attack on NATO will not eliminate this target, ”writes the author of the article.
Experts are considering four hostile scenarios.
In the first case, the Americans fear that Russia may launch a missile attack, for example, on a warehouse or airspace in Poland. The second scenario is a targeted attack on an American satellite in space. RAND analysts note that here a wide variety of non-kinetic (i.e. non-military) attacks against Russia – propaganda, etc. – believes it can be used.
Experts also suggested that the Russian Federation may hit three airbases in Poland and Romania, from which weapons are supplied to Ukraine.
The fourth scenario is a large-scale (or “less controlled”) Russian attack on US military bases in Europe, including the Ramstein base and the port of Rotterdam.
In response, RAND analysts offer to attack the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, under the pretext that the US considers them Ukrainian.
Former Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov expression It is the view that statements by “anonymous officials” from the Pentagon about the “decapitation blow” to the Kremlin actually spoke of the threat of the physical removal of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
