Posted in A study by psychologists at the University of Florida at the Archives of Sexual Behavior shows exactly how sexual satisfaction and good relationships affect each other.
Many psychologists have wondered whether good sex leads to good relationships, or vice versa, whether good relationships lead to good sex. As it turns out, there is a bidirectional relationship between them. The scientists recruited 287 volunteers who were married. All took online tests to determine attachment type, self-esteem, and neuroticism. All volunteers also kept a sex diary for 12 days.
The results showed that gender and satisfaction with relationships were directly related to each other. Moreover, marital satisfaction predicted next-day sexual satisfaction, and good sex suggested an improvement in relationships with a partner the next day.
In addition, scientists have found that couples who experience less satisfaction with sex and relationships at the very beginning of the relationship experience a strong deterioration in all aspects of relationships over time.
“People who are initially less satisfied with their marriage will be less satisfied with sex, which worsens the situation and leads to lower marital satisfaction and even lower sexual satisfaction in the future. This is a vicious circle,” the scientists concluded.
