Criminal case was opened against a journalist in Khakassia regarding the dissemination of false information about the Russian Armed Forces, informs Press service of the regional headquarters of the Investigative Committee.

According to the agency, on April 4, the editor-in-chief of one of the regional online publications published an article on the media website and social networks that “intentionally contains false information under the guise of reliable reports. Participation of employees of the Federal Service Department of the National Guard of the Russian Federation in a special operation against Ukraine in the Republic of Khakassia. In particular, the publication contained false information about National Guard employees, their level of financial support, and the performance of their official duties during the special operation.

The suspect, who was taken into custody, will be questioned as soon as possible. The suspect’s home was searched.

Law criminalizing the dissemination of false news about the Armed Forces of President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin signed at the beginning of March.

On February 24, he announced the start of a special operation in Ukraine, in response to a request for help from the heads of the DPR and LPR. Ukraine broke off diplomatic relations with Russia.
