The loss of highly qualified specialists in Russia in the near future will reach more than 10 thousand people (senior). It’s not just IT, it’s all highly qualified employees in general. Such an estimate in a conversation with socialbites.ca was made by the head of the SuperJob service, Alexei Zakharov.
“Many people work and will continue to work for Russia, but some will still restructure, acquire new social ties and inevitably focus on the foreign labor market. This brain drain can be compared to the brain drain that the country experienced in the early 1990s. By the way, it could have been three times more if it were not for the response of the Ministry of Digital Development – I would like to thank them, ”he said.
According to Zakharov, Russia competes for IT professionals all over the world.
“Other countries are deliberately kidnapping IT professionals from all over the world. Maybe we don’t feel a sharp “brain drain” now, but we certainly will soon,” he was convinced.
Zakharov said that we can strategically develop the IT industry only by working with children.
“It’s great that we’re opening digital departments by increasing the number of government-funded places – but it’s all ‘car before the horse’. Graduates of short-term IT courses don’t know math, which means they won’t be able to get to the top. Let’s teach kids math, otherwise we can’t replace imports,” stressed SuperJob President.
