As a result of a long history of more than one hundred and forty years, Fundación Mediterráneo preserves an extensive and valuable artistic, documentary and immovable heritage, particularly connected with the province of Alicante, the city of Valencia and the Region of Murcia. Its preservation, research and dissemination is our greatest responsibility and what drives our work every day.
The Fundación Mediterráneo Art Collection is a cornerstone in the contemporary Spanish art scene. He was born in 2002 with the desire to serve the art world and society. It consists of 212 works by 125 main artists from the Spanish Transition to the present and brings together different art languages such as painting, drawing, sculpture, video, installation or photography.
The most beautiful thing in the world is the first photography exhibition of the Fundación Mediterráneo Art Collection. Through the photographic work of several highly relevant artists, a reflection about ourselves and our environment is offered, which allows us to approach contemporary art in a more natural way.
This project was originally designed for La Llotgeta – Center Fotogràfic, a building of great beauty and architectural value located in the historic center of Valencia. After thinking for a while, we decided to propose an open, animated exhibition that can be visited in various rooms of the Foundation. The first phase was held simultaneously in the cities of Valencia and Alicante, to be later joined and now shown expanded in Alcoi.
