Pavel Cherenkov, Managing Director of JSC Satellite System Gonets (operator controls the company Sfera) TASSStarlink and OneWeb claim the same frequencies as the Russian satellite system Skif.
He noted that their applications were among the first to be received by the International Telecommunication Union, and later received from Starlink and OneWeb.
One of the Russian companies with which Sphere has a cooperation agreement has applied for the range of products required for Skif to work.
Cherenkov explained that Starlink and OneWeb came up with a proposal to coordinate frequencies, but that request was rejected. In other words, we do not allow them to use satellite systems on Russian soil,” he said.
The first Skif-D apparatus under the Sphere program was launched in October on a Soyuz-2.1b carrier rocket, along with three Gonets-M vehicles.
The “Skif” grouping will be designed for broadband Internet access.
