The judge of the Leninsky Court in Rostov-on-Don announced that he had detained Pavel Nikolin “until February 6, 2023”, RIA Novosti reported.

Before the meeting, journalists asked the man why he crossed the Ukraine-Russia border.

“I don’t know, I don’t even know what I’m doing,” he replied.

Then media representatives asked him why he left the military special operations area.

“I didn’t leave, I just fell behind the group – that’s all,” the accused reassured, adding that he had lost his way.

The police were then asked why he had fired.

“I thought of dill. Since they are not in uniform (dressed – socialbites.ca). And no documents were given. They started following me,” he said.

When asked if he had served in Ukraine as part of the Wagner PMC, the man initially replied “yes”. But then after some thought: “Maybe I’m not going to answer that question at all?”

At the court session, Nikolin stated that she did not resist arrest.

“When I saw the badges, I realized that they belonged to me from the shape and gave up. <…> Special forces offered no resistance as they saw the badges. As for the police, I am very sorry that this happened.”

The investigator said the suspect “confessed” “on the merits of the case”.

Shooting with a submachine gun

The city of Novoshakhtinsk is located in the west of the Rostov Region, on the border with the Lugansk People’s Republic, on the Maly Nesvetay River.

On the afternoon of December 6, a man in camouflage in the city opened fire on the police with a submachine gun. He escaped by injuring one of the law enforcement officers. The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under articles relating to the rape of the life of a law enforcement officer and illegal arms trafficking.

“This is a red-haired man wearing a ski mask. He looks about 40 years old, has a stubble and a burn on his right wrist. His height is 182 cm, he carries a Kalashnikov machine gun with him, ”said the Telegram channel Mash, conveying the direction of the attacker.

The attacker was detained only the next day in the village of Kiselevo, Krasnosulinsky district, 6.5 kilometers from the border. According to the UK, he has a criminal record for theft and robbery. The ministry explained that the machine gun shooter was “a 38-year-old native of another region.”

According to the Baza Telegram channel, “a man armed with a Kalashnikov machine gun was found in an abandoned pig farm.” And he resisted during the arrest.

Service at PMC “Wagner”

According to the news of Baza channel, it turned out that the attacker who opened fire on the police was a fighter from Wagner PMC.

“Pavel Nikolin lay in the Ufa colony for theft and robbery. From there, Wagner was recruited to PMC. On November 24, Nikolin changed her mind about fighting and fled, ”the message says.

Telegram channel Mash described the shooter as a deserter who came to Russia from Ukraine. A law enforcement source confirmed this information to TASS.

On December 7, Yevgeny Prigozhin, founder of PMC Wagner, said that information on where Nikolin provides services “is not publicly available and is of a closed operational nature.”

“If indeed Nikolin is a Wagner fighter and has committed a crime, then it should be further investigated how such incidents, which should be classified as ‘top secret’, fall into the hands of journalists and how this person transcends the police force. The border of the Russian Federation, ”Prigozhin said on the page of the Concord company on VKontakte.

The businessman added that PMC Wagner’s task force will conduct an investigation and “will report its results if public disclosure is required”.
