French volunteers fighting on the Ukrainian side wanted to be repatriated, reports Le Figaro.
According to the newspaper, the man was badly injured in late November, blown up by a landmine. He is currently in a military hospital in Kiev and is at risk of amputation if he does not undergo surgery on time, according to Le Figaro. On the other hand, the publication claims that Ukraine does not have optimal conditions to carry out the necessary operation due to power cuts.
The Embassy remains silent on this issue, and its compatriots, learning of the injured Frenchman, turned to French President Emmanuel Macron for help. For example, Xavier Taitelman, a former pilot of the French army, said that he organized the repatriation himself, since there was no help from the French authorities, and was even ready to pay 1,800 € for an ambulance to take him to the Polish border.
Meanwhile, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs received the news that a citizen was injured in Ukraine, and the ministry said they would help him.
